I wonder what she wants to talk about, I bet its about how awkward this afternoon was. I sat down next to her and put my hand on her back, comfortingly.*Kevin:*whispering* HeyRachel:*not even looking up* HeyKevin:*normal volume* so you wanted to talk?Rachel:*sighs* Yeah *pause* you felt it too, right? He has barely said anything to me, and afterwards yesterday he just sat there. He hates me, doesnt he? God, Im so stupid, I should have just told Nick I wouldnt do the dare. Now Joe hates me!*At this point she was really talking to herself more so than me. I honestly dont know what to say, especially because I wasnt there when it happened. I hurts me seeing Rachel like this, she seems so helpless. I think shes on the verge of tears. I grabbed her shoulders gently, making her look up. What I saw just killed me, she had tears in her eyes and to me she looking like a helpless little girl. I pulled her in to a brotherly hug, safe and comforting and started to whisper again.*Kevin: Hey, listen to me, Joe does not hate you. I think he is just confused. Yeah, there is tension now but you will get through this, I promise you that.Rachel:*muffled from the hug* R-re-really?Kevin: Absolutely. *pauses for about a minute* Why did you kiss him? It doesnt seem like something you would do.Rachel:*pulls back from the hug, and wipes her eyes lightly, her head down again* You promise nothing I say will ever leave this room? *she looked up with this unmistakable look of hope, fear, and a secret in her eyes behind the unshed tears*Kevin: Of course.Rachel:*very quietly* I honestly dont know what came over me. I think part of it was the challenge it was presenting and the wanting to be bold. I also kind of like Joe. AndKevin: What?Rachel: I lied.Kevin:*completely confused now* About what? That you like him?Rachel:*head down again, shaking it slightly* Noduring truth or dare. I didnt have my first kiss when I was 15, I had my first when I was 17.Kevin: So???Rachel:*biting her lip, her words barely audible and tinged with embarrassment* My first kiss was last nightwith Joe. *with that she started to quietly cry*Kevin:*quietly letting all of the information sink in, glances over an realizes Rachel is crying** I quickly stood up in front of Rachel and grabbed her arm, pulling her up and into another hug.*Kevin: ShhhRachel, Thats nothing to be embarrassed about.Rachel:*shaking her head furiously and stepping back from the hug* No. Kevin, you dont understand. I didnt have my first kiss before last night because no one has wanted to kiss me, Ive never been asked out, no one wants to kiss me. Im ugly. No wonder Joe hates me, he didnt want to kiss me either-
